How to Spruce Up My Bathroom by Improving My Shower
2nd Oct 2025
Improving your shower are is an effective way to spruce up the entire bathroom. In today’s post, we’ll look at projects large and small that can give your shower area an enhanced look and feel, thereby elevating the whole space.
1. Replace the shower door’s pull, towel bar, or knob.
You can give a shower door fresh vibes by simply replacing the door handle, whether that be a pull, towel bar, or knob. To help ensure a successful project, check the following:
- Whether the product you’re considering is compatible with the thickness of your glass door.
- Whether the product you’re considering can be installed with the hole or holes already drilled in the glass.
Switching to a new handle can change the look of the door in a few different ways:
- A fresh contour – for instance replacing a traditional knob like this with a modern style like this.
- Bringing in a new metal finish as part of a mixed metal scheme for the whole bathroom.
2. Trade out a shower curtain for a glass shower enclosure.
If you don’t already have a glass shower door or enclosure and you have the time and money for a larger project, this is a fantastic way to improve your bathroom. Options that can be added to either a tub/shower combo or a shower-only stall include:
- Inline Enclosure – Hinged door beside a fixed panel attached with clamps
- Sliding – Frameless door that moves along rollers on a header (see examples here)
- French Doors – Double doors hinged to the bathroom walls
- Splash Guard – A fixed or swinging panel with the entrance left open (Extra-waterproofing needed)
3. Improve what you have by cleaning and staging it.
On the other hand, if neither investing in new hardware nor paying for a glass shower is in your budget, it’s still possible to refresh this part of your space. Follow these easy steps:
- Look around your house for an accent item to include in your shower. Possibilities include a plant (make sure it can live in your bathroom’s light and moisture), a conch shell, or a decorative decanter.
- Empty the shower entirely and sort through its contents. Throw away dull razors, old shampoo bottles, and so forth. If possible pour shampoo, condition, and body wash into more attractive dispensers or bottles.
- Thoroughly clean the entire space. Give special effort to problem areas like grout, underside of the faucet, and shower door tracks (if present).
- If your shower has a curtain, wash and dry both the curtain and liner.
- Place the remaining items AND your accent item in the shower, arranging them with thought and care. Keep in mind that items look best when grouped in odd numbers and when pieces of various heights are clustered together.
