Pro Tips: Bathroom Storage Options You Might Have Missed

22nd Oct 2024

Bathroom clutter can bring down the nicest design scheme, and while most of us are tapping into standard storage solutions like the vanity cupboard, your bathroom may have untapped potential. We’ll look at a number of options for increasing bathroom storage by a little or a lot in various parts of the space.

1. Wall shelves paired with baskets or bins.

Bare wall space is often the ideal place for adding bathroom storage. Look for out of the way places like above the commode or in a corner. You have a number of stylish products to choose from, including glass shelves on metal clamps and wooden shelving. You can amp up the storage capabilities of your wall shelves by outfitting them with boxes, bins, and/or baskets that harmonize with the room’s vibe. Items you can store here include:

  • washcloths
  • toilet paper
  • towels
  • beauty and hygiene products

  • 2. Extra towel bars

Another way to put bathroom wall space to work is by equipping it with additional towel bars or towel rings. These are nice options for compact bathrooms because they do not extend very far out from the wall. If you’re adding a new glass shower enclosure to the bathroom, you can also consider having a towel bar – click to see examples – installed on the door panel or a fixed piece of glass. Alternatively, you can choose a pull and towel bar combo – see products here – that will give you a pull handle inside the shower stall and a towel bar on the outside of the glass.

    3. In-Shower Storage Areas

It’s even possible to create additional storage space within the shower stall itself. There are classic products like caddies that hang on the shower head, but it’s good to also consider:

  • Shelves that attach to shower walls with suction cups
  • A stool made of wood that can withstand water exposure
  • A recessed niche if you’re doing a remodel or new build
  • Glass shower shelves

  • 4. Robe Hooks

The addition of robe hooks is a simple and relatively inexpensive move that can help keep your bathroom floor clutter-free. These can be installed on a bathroom wall or on shower glass. There are sleeve-over robe hooks that can be added to a shower enclosure after install as well as through-glass robe hooks like this. Don’t let the name lead you astray; these handy hooks can also be used for hanging towels, poufs, make-up bags, and more.

    5. Cubbies

In a bathroom shared by siblings, consider adding wall mounted cubbies so that each child can have dedicated spaces for their towel, toiletries, and so forth. As you determine how far the cubbies will extend out from the wall, consider available floor space as well as any nearby installations with doors that need to swing open freely.
