Your Guide to Corner Shower Options

Your Guide to Corner Shower Options

31st Dec 2024

In many bathrooms, the corner is the most practical spot for the shower stall, and there are a few different ways you can approach its design. Factors to consider may include:

  • budget
  • aesthetics
  • accessibility
  • ease of care and cleaning
  • resale appeal

Since a glass shower project is an investment of time and money, you want to take the time to research options before purchasing glass and hardware. We’ll walk you through the main corner shower options and their features to get you started.

    Right Angle Corner Showers

Many glass corner shower enclosures are right-angle structures in a square or rectangular shape. Also known as 90 degree enclosures, these stalls are formed by two bathroom walls and two walls of glass. A hinged door is included on one of the glass walls, or the door can also make up one of the walls entirely. If the door attaches to an adjoining piece of glass, hinges like these are used. However, wall to glass hinges like these are called for if the door is hinged to a tiled wall. Right angle corner showers are classic, roomy, and offer appealing style and functionality.

    Neo-Angle Corner Showers

On neo-angle corner showers, three glass walls are present. Two pieces of glass are clamped to bathroom walls at right angles. The third section, which is usually the door panel, is hinged to one of the adjacent pieces of glass. Neo-angle enclosures don’t extend as far out into the bathroom, so this style can be nice if you’re tight on space. It is an eye-catching design that can be adapted to modern and traditional bathrooms alike.

    Walk-In Showers

Some homeowners prefer walk-in showers that have an open entryway. Stylistically, this connects the bathroom and shower. When the entrance is curbless, it also makes for a shower with boosted accessibility. If you go this route, additional steps are needed to prevent water damage in the bathroom.

  • Appropriate placement of the shower head relative to the open entrance
  • Suitable positioning of the floor drain
  • Shower floor sloped toward the drain
  • Extra waterproofing for the surrounding areas of the bathroom

  • Custom Shower Enclosures

It is also possible to create a unique, one of a kind enclosure. You can always choose the glass type – clear, acid-etched, patterned, or tinted – as well as the style and finish of the hardware. However, you can also make the enclosure unique through your choice of:

  • the number of glass panels
  • the angles at which the glass panels meet each other and the nearby walls
  • flat or curved glass
