Bathroom Remodel Ideas: 5 Shower Door Handle Options
25th Nov 2025

Bathroom remodel ideas abound, and it’s important not to overlook the small details that pull a room together and ensure that the renovation meets your practical needs. One such detail is the handle for your glass shower door. Picking this out is just one of the many decisions you’ll make, but it’s also a choice that has bearing on the door’s style and functionality. We’ll take you through the five general categories of shower door handles and delve into their features to help you discover the product that’s right for your remodel.
Single or Back to Back Pull Handle
Pull handles are the most popular choice for the shower in bathroom remodel, and they are offered in a variety of styles. Many homeowners choose a basic tubular pull like this because it is sleek and ergonomic but keeps the focus on the glass and tile thanks to its simplicity. More decorative pulls are also available, such as ladder handles or the Baroque handle by FHC. Pull handles are often purchased as a back to back set, with one pull on the outside and one on the inside of the shower. However, some are also available as a single-sided item if you feel that the door can just be pushed open without a handle from inside the stall.
Single or Back to Back Towel Bar
Next, a towel bar can be mounted on shower glass to serve as both a door handle and an extra towel storage option. Many towel bars mimic the pull handle styles like tubular, mitered, and ladder. Like pulls, you can often choose between a single bar and a back to back set. When ordering towel bars, pay close attention to the dimensions to avoid ordering a bar that is wider than the piece of glass on which it will be installed!
Pull and Towel Bar Combo
If you like aspects of both products we’ve discussed so far, this third option might be your favorite. A pull and towel bar combo allows you to install a towel bar on the exterior of the door and a pull handle on the inside. They will match in style – ie mitered, tubular, square, etc. This option gives you a nice place to hang a towel or washcloth as well as an ergonomic pull handle on the inside of the door.
Single or Back to Back Knob
If you’re looking for a smaller handle, something that won’t have the visual impact of a pull or towel bar, a knob or knob set could be right for you. There are knob styles to match many different tastes and preferences. For example, you could choose a traditional knob like this one, an eye-catching modern item, or something in between. Knobs are also sometimes chosen when the designer wants to keep the focus on the glass, but keep in mind that they may not be as easy to grasp as a pull or towel bar.
Finger Pull
Finally, when you want something even more unobtrusive than a knob, you can choose a through-glass finger pull. The least noticeable of all the options, this low-profile pull is appealing when you want the metal elements to be minimal and unobtrusive. Again, keep functionality and accessibility in mind, as this may be less ergonomic than a traditional pull handle.
